I apologize for slacking so much with my blog. These last few weeks have been busy for me and I haven't had time to post. I did however take pictures everyday of my outfits so I will post those but I don't have time to chat about what I did those days. Over spring break, I was able to get caught up and a little ahead so hopefully I will be able to keep up with my blog better :)

Day 39:
Today was the last day that I gave the students in the computer lab to type up their reports. Most of the students worked hard the entire class period and said that they would email me their reports when they were finished. I had one student get very upset with me over their grade. I wasn't sure exactly how to deal with this situation so I tried my best and then let the student chill out for a while. At the end of class, this student apologized to me for their poor attitude and we worked out a deal for the assignment that the student was upset over. Jen called the parent of this student at the end of the day and she let me listen in on how she approached the call. This was good for me to see how a teacher should address parents in a respectful manner. I hope to eventually call a parent during my student teaching so that I have a better understanding of how this goes.
Sorry for no outfit picture today. I was in a hurry to get to my evening activities :)

Day 38:
Now that the students have finished their entire experiment, it is time for them to type them up. Last Friday when I was gone, they were given time to type up their introductions. They had an outline to fill out for their experimental process and if they followed this sheet, they should have been able to write their introductions in under ten minutes. But as we got to the lab today to type up these papers, many students had "lost" their previous work or only had their title typed. I feel that three days in the computer lab is an ample amount of class time for the students to have. The students that used their class time wisely, got almost completely done with their report and will only have a smidge of work to do on their own time. I also decided to give all my students my email so that they can send me their reports and I can give them corrections. I'm really hoping that they will utilize this information. Only time will tell.
This sweater is absolutely perfect, except it could be just one inch longer. It covers my butt completely, however a smidge more clearance would be nice. I usually wear this sweater with my black knee high boots but went with my dark browns today. I would say I like the brown better.

Day 37:
Even though I didn't teach today, I was still able to help many of the students in the bio classes. I have a student that is blind that I've started sitting next to so that when she misses something written on the board, I can tell her what it was. This has been quite eye opening for me to see such a large difference in learning techniques. I'm also starting to pay more attention to the bio 2 lecture since I will be taking over for the next unit.
This outfit makes it's way back to surface again. I really just feel so comfortable in this outfit that I could wear it everyday and not be ashamed. The addition I made to this attire was the pearl necklace that my sweetie pie got me for Valentine's Day. This gave it a nice bit of glam.
And it was a little chilly today so I figured I'd share a picture of my new favorite knit cap. I could probably sleep in this hat I love it so much.

Day 36:
The students were all completing their projects today. I didn't have to do a whole lot of instruction today since they all designed their experiments on their own. I basically just walked around the room and made sure that no one was being unsafe and that everyone was collecting the data in the groups. I was impressed with the organization that some of the groups had going on in their set up. Of course not all the groups were organized, but there was a large amount that had a great system going. Ultimately, I was happy/proud of how hard my students were working on these experiments that they were designing themselves.
I almost forgot I even had this sweater until I found it in the back of my dresser. This sweater is great for teaching because it is a soft fabric and it has a higher neckline then others. I did wear jeans on a Tuesday but I would say they are my nicest pair of skinnys. And of course to accompany this attire are my Ariat knee high boots :)

Day 35:
Today was a work day for the students to get their procedures done for their independent experiment. I was excepting most everybody to complete their procedure today and to possibly even start their experiments. I had a couple students get done with their procedures and start on their experiments, and then I also had a large amount not get even close to having their experiments done.
Over the weekend, I had a students email me about the assignments and their frustration with what all was going on. When I approached this student in class, we worked out all their frustrations and set some time aside to work on the assignments. This as my first real interaction with student complaints and it went really well. I can only hope they will all go this well.
Today was the first day that I subbed for Jen. I had all the students to myself and that was a pretty cool thing. My chem classes were pretty simple since I have pretty much taken them over all the say. The bio classes on the other hand were a little different. In bio 1, we presented the rest of our projects and then I introduced the next unit of meiosis and mitosis. Then in bio 2, I had a full lecture on diseases related to autosomal traits. I was a little nervous for this lesson because these kids are so smart and I didn't want to not meet their standards. The lesson went great and they seemed be very engaged with my lesson.
I kept it simple with my pink baggy sweater, black skinny pants, and dark brown knee high boots. I wear skinnys and knee high boots often, but they are just the most comfortable when you have to teach all day.

Day 34:
Jen, Kali, and I went to the Science Summit up in Casper for the day. We were assigned a certain table so that there was a mix of teachers at each today. Each teacher was asked to bring an example of active learning to share with the group. I was a little nervous for this summit since I'm only a pre-service teacher and all don't have as much experience as the others there. Overall, I was very happy with my experience at this convention. It was great to hear the ideas that all the other teachers had and I made a friend with a professor at UW.
I didn't have a chance to take a picture of my outfit but I wore a flannel shirt with khaki pants and my dark brown riding boots.

Day 33:
Bio 1 was presenting their models today on protein synthesis. Many pairs were not ready to present today and this was a little disappointing. They had many days to complete this assignment and tons of class time to work on it as well. However, the groups that did present today were really good. In Chem, I allowed the students work time to get their experiment completely planned out. Today was also the day that the students were to turn in their Sports Snack Project. The students had over a week to complete this lab and I maybe had five students come into to get help. I had about a 5% of my students turn in their project today. This was very disheartening to me because I had offered so much of my help to them and reminded them to get help if they were stuck. I'll have to figure out what to do differently next time.
I was missing golf today so I decided to wear one of my golf pullovers. This one is from Troon North down in Arizona. Today was sort of my Friday so I went with jeans and my khaki flats.

Day 32:
Today was just a work day in Bio 1 for them to finish their models. I mainly just wondered around answering any questions that they students had. It was great to see the progress that some of the groups have been making. Bio 2 continued on learning about inheritance. I've starting looking over the material that I will be teaching the bio 2 kids on Monday.
I went for fancy today. Well my kind of fancy. My red flowy cardigan and a black undershirt with my light khaki pants. My belt was my mom's back when she was in college. I matched my belt with my Ariat riding boots.

Day 31:
We started talking about enzymes more in depth today. I gave them a note outline so that they could follow along more easily. My student teaching advisor lady come to observe me during my 1st period. She was very pleased with my teaching abilities and had great advice for me. After we got through the notes, the students started to design their own experiment based on an enzyme. I was really proud of all the students working hard at trying to design an experiment on their own. Jen and I still helped them quite a bit with getting their ideas isolated.
I went with my off-white long sleeve shirt today and my mint pants. Now that I'm looking at my outfit, I can see that I wore a brown belt and black boots. This does not match at all. I need to pay more attention.

Day 30:
Today was a half day for the students but a full day for me. We only had 22 minutes with each class so I decided to show a demonstrations about enzymes. The demo that I showed was called Elephant's Toothpaste. I had a graduated cylinder and filled it with about 30mL of hydrogen peroxide. You have to add a little bit of dish soap to the mixture to help contain the bubbles. Next, I added a little bit of potassium iodide. Once this was added, the reaction started and it erupted like a volcano. I recommend all of you look up a video of this on YouTube so that you can get a better picture of what I'm talking about. This is an exothermic reaction so there was heat coming off of the cylinder. In all of the bubbles is concentrated oxygen gas. We then took a wood splint that was red hot with out flame. I would stick the splint in the bubbles and it would light on fire.
After all the students left for the day, we had a staff development were we talked about the freshman transition that would occur at the new high school. I really had no idea what to share at this gathering so I kept to myself for the most part. I did however got to leave early because Jen and I had to go to an IEP meeting. This was my first IEP meeting and I would have to say it went pretty well.
I forgot to take a picture of my outfit for the day so I decided to share a picture from the weekend. My fella came to visit me for Valentine's Day. He gave me the necklace I'm wearing in the picture, which is an emerald pearl from Fiji.
Instead of going out to dinner, we decided to make dinner ourselves. We made two fondues, a beer cheese and a garlic beef broth. Our dipping items were marinated steak, artesian bread, pretzel bites, broccoli, asparagus, and apples. This dinner was quite amazing and I would love to do a fondue night again sometime.

Day 28:
Today was another work day for the Chem students. This was for them to work on their sports snack project. I had hoped that they would be able to finish all their tables but I guess this was a little much for me to expect out of them. They all worked really hard so I wasn't disappointed at all. I did give them the whole class period to work on this so I hope their project are high quality when they turn them in.
I have worn this outfit before but I really like how it all goes together so I will probably wear it again. I wore my plaid button up with khaki skinny jeans and my Ariat riding boots.

Day 27:
I didn't teach today since it was a biology day but I remember to take an outfit picture so I'll still share my day. The Bio 1 kids were working on their project for the unit where they had to create a model that represented protein synthesis. There were a lot of different ideas being passed around. One group is writing a song, another is making a cupcake display, and another is making it out of clay. I'm really excited to see their presentations next week. The Bio 2 students are taking their unit test, which is also about protein synthesis. Their information just goes more in depth. I thought I knew this information pretty well and then they asked me questions while taking the test and holy crap it was hard. I have learned biology information so many times and I still struggle with conveying the information.
I wore my loose pink sweater with my bullet necklace. My pants are my black skinny pants with my maroon brown riding boots. I also wore my leather Pandora bracelet.

Day 26:
The students started their culminating event for this unit today. I gave them a scenario where they worked for a fitness company and they had to determine which "sports snack" the company should use. This project put together all the lab information that they had obtained from the unit. Many of the students did not like having little instruction with this assignment. It was healthy for them to struggle through this project but I did help them a little bit. This day seemed to go by really slow by then again so did the whole week.
Sorry no outfit picture today. I had little motivation this week.

Day 25:
Today was a work day for the students to finish their calculations from the calorimeter lab. Some of the students struggle with these calculations so it was important for them to get questions answered today. We also calculated how many calories they personally need to consume on a daily basis. This calculation required them to consider how much physical activity they do daily. I would definitely say that they students over estimated their physical activity. As I was walking around the room, I had a student noticed that I painted my nails over the weekend. This student was male and a rancher. It was pretty cute that he noticed my manicure.
I went for casual today and had on a blue cardigan, skinny khaki pants, and flats.

Day 24:
FRIDAY!!! This was a very long week but overall I learned a great deal from the week. In Chem today, we finished the calorimeter lab and then they worked on their calculations. Each class had different motivational levels and I had to work differently with all of them. The last class was of course the most challenging, but luckily the weekend came right after. Jen and I decided that for next Friday we would do a Science Friday dedicated to love for valentine's day. I'm pretty excited for this.
I wore my gray drappy cardigan with a blueish under shirt. My light khaki skinny pants went well with my Ariat riding boots. I also wore my Teton necklace to compliment the whole attire.

Day 23:
Today was a total rollercoaster. There were a ton of ups and downs but I just want to focus on the ups. The students did a lab with a calorimeter where they determined the amount of calories in a food sample. This lab seemed to catch the students attention because they had to light things on fire. I went through a short description of the set up and safety, then let the students go wild. With all the food samples being lite on fire, the room did not smell that grand. A few students said they could smell the burnt food all the way down the hallway. I also had my teacher from the university come in during 7th block and observe me. I was glad that she came during the third time I was teaching this class because I had time to practice before her. After class, I chatted with her for a little while and she seemed pretty impressed with my lessons and teaching abilities.
After teaching dance class today, I went over to Cheyenne to have dinner with my brother. He came to this side of the state for an engineering convention. We ate at a restaurant by the train depot and splurged to have crème brulee for desert.
I know I've worn this outfit before but I really love this sweater. I'm red skinny's are a nice touch of color and the black riding boots are practical when there it is snowy out.

Day 22:
I wrote the largest check of my life today. I had to run into campus today to pay for my tuition. Even though it was a lot of money, it is the last one I will have to pay ever. Today in Bio 1, we did a microbiology lab. We isolated a bacteria on a petri dish and each pair streaked their agar plate with the bacteria and then put an aluminum foil cut out on top of it. Once all this was done, they put the dish under a UV lamp for one minute. This process will kill all the bacteria that is not underneath the aluminum foil. All the students seemed to enjoy this lab because it made them feel like they were doing real science. I practiced the lab I'm going to do with my Chem students tomorrow and I think I have all the kinks worked out. Burn yourself once and you find a better way to do something.
I wore my purple pink sweater today. Typically, I wear this sweater with legging because it is kind of longer but that wouldn't have been that appropriate. Instead, I wore my black skinny jeans and my black riding boots.
Day 21:
I had all of my Chem classes today. We made it through four sections of the Food Inc. film. My warm-up question I gave the students was "Have you eaten corn today?". I enjoyed seeing the puzzled look they had when asked this question. The first film section was called "A Cornecopia". It talked about how nearly 80% of the food items in a grocery store are made out of a corn product. The ideas in this film are just ideas that we never think about. We discussed how much we think about the people that pick, process, and transport our food. When you begin to think about all these out lying topics, it broadens your whole horizon. In my last class, there was one students who really disagreed with this video and just completely shut down. I wasn't sure how to help this student get past their mind block, but I did the best I could do. Since we just watch the film all of class, the whole day went by super slow.
I went with my orange sherbet sweater today. My pants are my skinny khaki dress pants and my boots are my older riding boots.

Day 20:
WEEK 5!!! Today I started the second part of my unit on food chemistry. For today and tomorrow, we will watch the movie Food Inc. and discussed the issues brought up in this film. This film is one of the biased films I have seen on the topic of food but all of the ideas brought up are real issues. We only got to watch one section of the film and the rest of the time we discussed these new thoughts that were introduced to the students. There are many students that live on ranches and they had some great input for discussion. This film is hard to watch on a political stand point but I wanted to show it to the students so that they could see the applications to chemistry. I suggest all of you watch the film and to share your thoughts with me :)
Yes, I wore jeans today! They are my nice jeans and I also decided to wear my cowboy boots. I wore a black baggy sweater and my long owl necklace.

 Day 19:
Sorry there is no picture for today. I went home for the weekend and got so excited that I forgot to take a picture. Today the students took the test that I created. This was the first test I have every written so I was really excited to see how well the students liked it. We stayed in the classroom for a few minutes so that they could go over their review a couple more times. I answered any last minute questions and then we headed down to the cafeteria for them to take the test. Jen usually has the students take test here so that they have their own space and not tempted to peek around. The students seemed to be a little bit nervous for the test. I handed out the test and just walked around to answer any questions they might have. After the exam, I had the students rate my test with a thumbs up or down. Pretty much every students had their thumbs up or to the side. I already graded the tests and I was very happy with the results.
For my weekend adventures, I went home to see my family and my fella. We went to a Ducks Unlimited on Sat night which was just fun to get dressed up for and go out. None of use won a darn thing but daddy bid on a live auction item and got that.

Day 18:
Today in Chem was a review day for the kids. After I made the exam, I had it sitting beside me and typed basically every questions plus a little extra. The students haven't quite yet learned how to properly study for tests so I really want them to see greats examples of this. I asked them to stay in their original seats and to work independently. They all listened quite well and they worked very hard on completing this review. I mainly just walked around and answered questions they might of had or questions they couldn't remember. I had a lady from the university come in to observe me. She just sat in the front and jotted down notes. After class, Jen said that she was very impressed with my class set up and that I seemed to have great connection with the students. Overall, I was pleased with the knowledge the students had obtained from this section.
Thought I would share a selfie of my and my science classroom.

This is a new cardigan that I got from Maurice's. I was a little skeptical of this cardigan at first but it is super comfortable and I love the colors. I'm not sure how well it matched my mint jeans but I was just really feeling my mint jeans this morning. My shoes are my older riding boots that are very comfy.
Day 17:
On Wednesdays, I don't see my Chem students but I have two Biology classes. First was Bio 1 and I helped teach this lesson. We talked about technologies that scientists have to process DNA. We did three stations and Jen was at the gel electrophoresis station. This technology involves a gel with embedded well that you can inject DNA into. After all the wells are full, an electric current is directed though the set up to pull bands out. The students really enjoyed being hands on with this station. I was at the PCR station. PCR stands for Polymerase Chain Reaction. This station was not as exciting as other but this machine was donated to the school by a local scientist. This instrument would normally cost around $3,000 so having it donated was amazing.
This was the main excitement of my day and I spent a lot of time planning for the week to come.
I was sad that I hadn't worn any flannels yet, so I decided to drag one out. I just wore my black Levi's and a couple students thought I was another student since I was dressed more similar to them. It was warmer today so I wore my tan flats. They didn't match but that's okay. Also, in the background of my picture you can see my unit plan that I created last semester and am now applying to my classes.

Day 17:
Today was the first time I got to set up and instruct a lab. This lab was to help the students connect all the ideas they just learned with macromolecules and apply them. They had various solutions of starch, glucose, protein, and sucrose. After they had their solutions, they added different reagents that would test positive for different ingredients. I gave really good explanations at the beginning of lab and then let them run loose. It was a little crazy but everyone was safe and they got done in a reasonable amount of time. After the students got done with this lab, we had some time left so we did a mini lab where they got to make silly putty. No matter what age you are, it is fun to make silly putty. Pretty much every student was excited to make their own silly putty. They all had fun but oh man was it messy. There was pieces of silly putty everywhere. You make silly putty with Elmer's glue, water, and a borax solution. The last class was the messiest with this mini lab. Jen even got her shirt and pants glued together on accident. This evening I made my first test that I will give the kids. I had made a test before hand but I also made a lot of changes to my lectures so I had to re-write it. Even with all the craziness of today, it seemed to be quite a success.
I love wearing flannels so I decided to pull one out for today. It has been so hot here in Laramie recently that I wore some flats to help stay cooler. My pants are black skinny jeans. While making the silly putty, I gave some of the kids corn starch to help make it less sticky. This of course showed up all over my pants. On the floor in my picture, you can see my wonderful unit plan.

Day 16:
Oh what another great Monday!! We ended the notes on macromolecules in Chem today with lipids. Lipids is just a fancy word for fats. These notes were a little shorter than the other notes but this gave them more time to work on the worksheet I handed out. At the beginning of one of my classes today, the students were being super chatty. I made one louder statement about their talking and their wasn't anymore chatting for the rest of lecture. Not quite sure if I just scared them or if they truly respect me but I'm going to go with the fact that I'm very intimidating :) To help make them get a visual of saturated and unsaturated I made a square out of tape on the floor. I had as many students stand in this square as would fit. Not many students were wanting to participate, so I volun-told people to participate. After they fit into the square standing straight, I instructed them to get "kinky". They basically just made funky shapes with their arms and legs, and tried to fit in the square again. This activity was good to get them moving on a Monday. After school today I had to go to a meeting with the other student teachers in the district. We mainly just talked about what we were doing in our classrooms, and we also talked about our personal teaching philosophies.
I wore one of my golf sweaters for class today. This was not the best choice today because Laramie decided to be extremely hot and I was dying of heat. Thankfully, I didn't create any pit stains!
To accompany my black skinny pants, I wore my brown riding boots. With the high temperatures that we had today, I'm debating on wear sandals and a sundress tomorrow :)

Day 15:
Sorry this wasn't posted on Friday.  In Chem, I lectured on carbohydrates in the same format as I did the proteins. I made a flow chart for them to follow and we went through some great real world like cellulose, starch, and chitin. In case you don't know what chitin (pronounced kitten) is, it is the exoskeleton of lobsters and crabs. In the middle of them taking notes, they made glucose molecules with molecular sets. Some students really liked building the structure with their own hands, while others weren't too keen on this activity. An activity that I forgot to do during this lecture was where the students convert starch to glucose. The kids chew up a saltine cracker and have to keep it in their mouth with saliva. After about a minute of the cracker reacting with the saliva in their mouth, the flavor in their mouth turns sweet.
After this whole week was over, I was so happy with the lessons that I did with the students. Jen thought they went really good as well and I hope she will use my ideas next year as well.
Since it was Friday, I decided to wear some nice jeans and a long sweater. I really love this sweater! It is so soft and just flows very nice. My jeans are some new MissMe jeans and my shoes are just some leather heels. I wore my 45 auto necklace again and a couple boys noticed it today. They thought I was super cool because I wore ammo jewelry.

Day 13/14:
I didn't post yesterday because I just observed and my outfit was the same as a previous day.
Today however was an amazing day. Jen and I team taught again and the lesson was over proteins. The students filled out a flowchart of notes that I went over on the board with them. As they were taking notes, they made proteins with pipe cleaners and beads to go along with. This activity made the proteins more meaningful since they were actually making a model with their own hands. The note design that I came up with worked super well and I hope I get to use it again.  At the beginning of this lesson, I demonstrated an experiment with proteins. In this demo, I mixed red bull and milk together. Red Bull has an acid in called 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid but most people know it as Taurine. Long, long time ago, Taurine was obtained by extracting it from bull bile. This process is now done synthetically. The protein found in milk is casein and this protein has a negative charge to it. When the acid is added to milk, the casein becomes neutral and this creates a clumping action. The students seemed to really like this demonstration and the mixture was absolutely disgusting. Hopefully, I helped them decide to not drink red bull.
I went with my argyle golf sweater today and some black skinny pants. This outfit was just a simple comfy one and made me really anxious for golf season.
After my first teaching experience, I went to my second one for the day...teaching ballet. I let my dance girls pick out the song they like best. They chose 'Master of Tides' by Lindsey Stirling.

Day 12:
Today was the beginning of the new semester. Jen and I made some changes to how the class periods will go and all of the students were very open to these changes. We discussed what goals we have for school but also for life in general. Jen taught a few things today and then I taught some stuff too. I'm not sure if the students are afraid of me or intimidated but no one talked while I was lecturing. I was glad that they were all listening and engaged though. The students looked at food label and started thinking more into the foods that they eat. This activity is great for anyone one to do because what is in your food can really impact your life. Overall, the lesson that I taught today was pretty successful and I hope to development my teaching skills more and more every day.
It took me forever and a day to figure out my outfit this morning. I wore a flowy gray cardigan with a black under shirt. The necklace I have on is not symmetrical and I think it makes it more interesting. The pants I wore were my black jeans and then I wore my knee high Ariat boots. The cardigan was super important today because I still get a little nervous when I talk in front of people and that means I get a little sweaty.
I also teach ballet classes twice a week in the evening. After I got done teaching my class, the teacher for the next class didn't show up so I ended up teaching that class as well. This class was a beginning ballet class aka very young. It's been a while since I've taught little ones so it was a little struggle for me. However, the little girls were super cute and I had lots of fun.

Day 11:
The start of week three was great. Since it was Martin Luther King Day, no students were at school but teachers had professional development. We started with a team building exercise and then broke into different sessions. The first session I attended was about classes that are taught at the junior high for 9th graders and the high school. This was mainly just to make sure that these classes were matching up. After lunch all teachers had to do a curriculum analysis to make sure they had good flow and were meeting diverse needs. Even though I'm not an actual teacher in this school, all the things we talked about were great topics that I will eventually have to discuss one day. After all of the professional development, Jen and I went over what we are doing with the students for the rest of the week and got it all lined out. I'm really REALLY excited about teaching this week since it is the material that I have had planned since last semester.
The attire that I am sporting in the picture is a new dress that I bought last semester and this was the first time that I have worn it. I got many compliments on it. You can't really tell in the picture but I wore black tights with this dress and my little black fashion boots.
I have previously only been talking about my school experiences and my fashion. I've decided to also share when I do neat things in the kitchen to give a little diversity. I baked some artesian bread on Sunday and it turned out quite nice.  I used mostly white flour but with a little bit of the wheat flour that I ground myself. This was super easy to make and I hope I can make my own bread more often.

 Day 8 9 10:
Sorry these weren't all separate days but since it was finals week all the days were the same. On Wednesday, I taught my first whole lesson to the class. I was a little nervous on the inside but Jen told me that I seemed very calm and collect on the outside. It is hard for me to talk slow in front of people so I of course got through this lesson very quickly. We got through all of the materials but they didn't have as much time to discuss their options as they did when Jen taught the lesson. There were no classroom management issues which was a relief and all the students were very respectful. I wore the plaid button up shirt for my first teaching day. This is the shirt I wear when I want to look a little bit older and more mature.
I wore my comfy riding boots today so that I didn't have to think about my feet at all. Jen gave me some notes after my lesson and I worked on those for when I would teach this lesson on Friday.

I didn't take a picture of my outfit on Thursday and I'm sorry about that. I got so wrapped up in rushing off to teach ballet after school that I forgot. During this day, Jen and I planned out what we would be doing in Chem the next week. This coming material is what I have planned out for the students so we are just revamping the ideas that I have created to match with the students. In the Bio 2 class that Jen also teaches, she gave a group exam for that classes' final. All these students are very intelligent and it was so neat to listen to them collaborate on answers and ideas. After the test, I asked all the groups how they liked this exam style. Every single one said they loved it and some even said it was super fun. This makes me want to try giving group exams when I have my own classroom.

I taught my introduction lesson about food chemistry for the final time on Friday. As the students were coming in, I mentioned that I was teaching the lesson that day. The students were verbally excited about this which made me feel really good. All the students were very engaged with the questions and gave me great feedback. I did get a little frustrated when two girls strolled in half way through the class with fru-fru Starbucks coffee and began chatting as soon as they sat down. Maybe frustrated is the wrong word. These girls just didn't care enough about the class to be here on time. I will have to work on making it more interesting for these girls so that they want to be in class more. But overall, my first teaching experience with these classes have been great and I will be teaching again next week. My weekend plans include grading all the lab reports that Chem just turned in and planning the rest of my lessons for next week.
My attire for Friday was a red flowy cardigan with a black cami. It's hard to see my necklace but it is my lucky elephant one. I wore my skinny khakis and my black riding boots.

Second week down....14 more to go!!

 Day 7:
First day of finals weeks!! I watched Jen teach the first hour Chem class the lesson that I will teach the other two sections later this week. This lesson has the students think about why they eat food and where their food comes from. They get to watch some awesome videos on re-purposing food and how to make food out of crickets. I personally can't fathom the idea of eating a cricket and don't think I could ever eat an insect. The Bio 1 class worked on a group test for the whole period. I mainly just walked around and helped students with questions they were really struggling with. Since biology and I aren't the best of friends, I told a student the wrong answer. I had to google the answer and had to admit that I told her wrong. At least from this point on I will see all the notes that the students are writing so I will know the material as well. Tomorrow I teach the chemistry lesson to the second hour and I'm really excited to get in front of the class for the first time.
I wore a loose pink sweater with a black tank top underneath. The necklace I chose was the Winchester 45 casing.
I wore my tall cowboy boots with black skinny pants. These pants are technically jeans (which I'm not allowed to wear) but it is hard to tell that they are jeans so I think I can get away with it.

 Day 6:
Today was definitely a great way to start the week. We had all of our classes today and for the rest of the week there will only be two classes in the morning with the afternoons off. In Chem, they "finished" typing up their lab reports but if they didn't finish they would have to complete it at home and turn it in during their finals time slot. I helped many students create graphs for their reports. They were all super appreciative and were getting good at making them after I showed them one. This made me think about how I would teach my students to use Microsoft suite programs to make scientific writing. At my high school, we had computer classes and they took place in labs that were designed for instruction. When I have my own classroom, I would like to spend about a week in a computer, instruction classroom to show my students how perform data analysis, make graphs, and other useful tools for science. I added a picture of my classroom so that you could get a better feel about the environment that I'm in.
I've had this sweater for a while but it is one of my favorites. The neck line of this shirt is at an awkward level so it looks weird if I wear a necklace with it. I wore some mint jeans with this outfit because who doesn't like mint pants :)
I call these shoes my fashion cowboy boots. They are pretty comfy but not the best to walk long distances in.

Day 5:
One week down...15 more to go. I'm extremely happy with how my first week went. I got a good feel for how Jen runs her classroom and how I might incorporate my own teaching strategies too. Today was very similar to yesterday in what the student were doing. The Chem class was in the computer lab again typing up their lab report. Bio 1 completed the lab that they were working on and Bio 2 studied independently for their finals next week. The school schedule next week is quite amazing. Monday is a full day with all classes and then the rest of the week has just two classes in the morning with the afternoons off. This gives me as a teacher ample amounts of time to plan for the next week when I will be in front of the classes. I have been helping Jen plan a lesson for next week. We will be introducing food chemistry and how to properly make/follow a flowchart. I created two example flowcharts for them to do next week, one is about different sports and the other is for a few chemical elements. I chuckled at a student today who asked me about my "party life" in college. I couldn't help but laugh because I have no party life. I told this student that partying was lame and all I ever did was dance :)  For my evening activities, I went to Cheyenne for a Mary-Kay thing-a-ma-jig. They demonstrated tricks on how to do make-up and I won a couple prizes so a pretty successful night.

I took my outfit pictures in the classroom today on my lunch break. This is a new sweater dress that I got over break from my lovely parents. It was the perfect warmth for the day since it has little holes in it for ventilation. I couldn't find a necklace to complement my outfit so I went without today. And my thumbs-up is for making it through the first week with no blood or tears :)
I wore black leggings today and felt super comfortable. The sweater dress came far enough down that it was appropriate to wear at school. And these black boots make an appearance again. Black just goes with so many outfits that these shoes will probably be wore very frequently.

 Day 4:
Today was the best day yet. I saw more of my fellow student teachers around the school and all the kids were great. The schedule was back to having all the classes. In Chem, we went to the computer lab to start typing up lab reports. I was really surprised at how little computer knowledge the students have. I'm not sure how well computers are taught in elementary and junior high but I really think that this needs to be improved. As usual, some students worked hard on their paper and got quite a bit done, where as others struggled to be motivated. However, all the students were super appreciative of the advice that I gave them with regarding papers. I have written so many lab reports in my life that it feels more natural to write scientific writing than it does to write a regular paper. During lunch, I sat in on a department meeting with all the other science teachers. This was great to hear thoughts from all the different science teachers in the high school. The Bio 1 class continued with respiration and performed a lab to determine how much CO2 they produce "at rest" and "after working out". I'm starting to help plan my first lesson with Jen. It will be an introduction to the "food chemistry" unit that I will be teaching the majority of. Jen decided that she would teach the first block this lesson and then I will teach the other two. This will be my first full lesson with my classes. I'm pretty excited and for some reason not frightened......yet. Now for fashion! :) I went with an older outfit of mine today. This cardigan always reminds me of the lettermans from around the fifties (like the one Danny wore in Grease).
On the bottom half of my attire, I have some khaki skinny pants with a basic, brown belt. I rocked some brown, riding boots with the outfit as well.
